Farm To School Consulting and Workshops

AT A TIME WHEN NATURE ITSELF IS BEING CHALLENGED WE CAN NOT AFFORD NOT TO INCLUDE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AT ALL AGE LEVELS

The first step to caring about the environment comes from building a relationship with nature. Farm programming grows nature relationships while involving students in the practical work of food production. Students work closely with plant and animal life as they discover where their food comes from. Within this context all subject areas can be included: science, history, biology, ecology, environmental science, math and even spelling. Health, nutrition and earth stewardship are intrinsic lessons in farm curriculum. Farm curriculum adds a missing dimension to education that can empower students to be active stewards.

…if we desire that adults, in the next generation, respect nature and care for the planet, it is important now, in the early childhood education curriculum or program, to include the study of nature, and the interdependence between human beings and the environment. Everything deeply lived, practiced and felt in the early years of human development remains for the rest of one’s life. (V. Didonet (2008). Early Childhood Education for A Sustainable Society. Using our 20+ years’ experience we can help develop an appropriate farm education program for each unique circumstance.
We offer scheduled annual workshops and seminars for teachers and small farmers. Private or on location workshops and design consulting are available by appointment.
