Bertrand Farm is an educational farm whose mission is to connect people to local food production in order to promote sustainable agriculture, health and earth stewardship.
Our 11-acre, farm site in Niles, Mi was purchased in 1996 by John and Theri Niemier. The vision to become an educational farm facility was born out of Theri’s creative and innovative thinking, her gift for teaching youth, love for nature, interest in nutrition and concern for environmental health.
In response to growing interest and need for restoration agriculture education, Bertrand Farm has evolved to include year-round activities and education including: summer camps, Farm to School programming, internships, Community Sponsored Agriculture (CSA), University curriculum and Adult programming for homesteading practices.
New in 2018 is our urban farm site located on the school landscape of Good Shepherd Montessori School in Downtown South Bend, IN. Working in partnership with GSMS Bertrand Farm will bring an Urban Agriculture Learning Center to the Michiana community. Many of our farm programs will be offered at this site in 2018.
